The term “food” is loosely used here as most processed or out of the box food is nutrient deprived. Choosing to eat “from farm to table” will make sure you get your daily nutritional quota. Processed foods contain unhealthy fats, refined sugars and hydrogenated vegetable oils which are toxic to our bodies. There are two types of hydrogenated oils, partial hydrogenation which is semi-solid at room temperature and full hydrogenation which is completely solid. But it would seem that the worst of the two, namely partial hydrogenated oils, are specifically dangerous to our cardiovascular health as they contain trans fats which lower HDL (good cholesterol) while increasing LDL (bad cholesterol). Always read food labels and try to avoid anything containing hydrogenated fats, either full or partial, as food companies mix the two in order to avoid having to specify on labels.
